About Us

AED-COACH is now in the second phase of the National HIV/AIDS Anti-Stigma Initiative (2007-2008), with support from the Ford Foundation. The aim is to inspire community efforts to implement projects that have larger social impacts. This shift in the project will allow grantees and AED-COACH to counter broader social problems that have a profound effect on stigma and a detrimental effect on HIV/AIDS prevention and care services.

After a competitive bidding process, AED-COACH – under this Initiative – provided grants to five (5) organizations to support the development of programmatic interventions that address HIV/AIDS-related stigma at a community and national-level. We are supporting the creation of initiatives, intervention models, tools and instruments, and media that have the potential for replication and national significance. The goal is to reduce HIV/AIDS-related stigma and discrimination to protect the human and social assets of those infected and affected by HIV/AIDS as well as to contribute to the research and information available on effective, replicable programs.

The 2007-2008 grantees are listed below:

In the first phase (2003-2005), the Initiative focused on two key areas: (1) identifying and disseminating key information on HIV/AIDS-related stigma and discrimination applicable to the United States, and (2) supporting innovative community-level programs in five communities. Please click on “Former Grantees” to read about the projects implemented and lessons learned in the first phase of the Initiative.
