In Their Own Words
On October 29th, AED-COACH hosted a meeting to highlight the projects of five (5) community-based and national organizations funded through AED's National HIV/AIDS Anti-Stigma Initiative. At the meeting, experts presented and participated in panel discussions highlighting how stigma and discrimination impact HIV/AIDS prevention and care; new research in the field; examples of promising and sustainable anti-stigma programs; and what policy changes are necessary to implement effective programs.
As a follow-up to this meeting, we posted videos of the experts' presentations and panel discussions and grantee staff presenting on their anti-stigma projects funded under this initiative in their own words. Clips of grantee staff members discussing the following topics are also available:
- How their organizations are working to eliminate HIV/AIDS-related stigma and discrimination in the U.S.;
- Unique challenges related to HIV/AIDS stigma and discrimination faced by the communities they serve;
- Key factors that foster HIV/AIDS-related stigma nationally and the communities they serve; and
- How stigma fosters the spread of HIV/AIDS.
